WILD 101: May 6 – July 29, 2010

WILD 101 is an Exercise and Diabetes Support group for women who are 18 or older and who have type 1, type 2, or pre-diabetes. WILD 101 is a 90-day program designed for you to achieve your personal fitness goals. Is your personal goal to lose weight, increase activity, or gain better diabetes control? Then WILD 101 is perfect for you!

WILD 101 focuses on nutrition, diabetes education, physical activity and peer to peer support. The WILD 101 group is coached by an expert certified diabetes educator and registered dietician, and will work with two certified exercise coaches who are highly familiar with the needs of women with diabetes. The coaches will work with each individual to provide education and guidance so each woman will reach her personal health and fitness goals.

Women on WILD 101 may participate, at additional cost, in Camp WILD from June 3 – 6 in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. During camp your goals will be reinforced as you have the opportunity to work face to face with your coaching staff and meet other WILD women.

Invite a friend! The group has a limited number of spots open to type 3 supporters. Type 3 supporters are the female friends and loved ones of a woman who is already part of the group. Both you and your friend can take advantage of the great benefits of the WILD 101, and encourage each other to achieve your personal goals.
What you get by joining the WILD 101 Team:

  • 3 months of twice monthly phone conference/webinar calls with the coaches, diabetes educator and the group.
  • Expert education in diabetes management (interaction of medications, nutrition, stress) and education on how and why exercise is so important for successful diabetes management and prevention of diabetes complications.
  • Expert coaching to prepare you to accomplish your personal health and fitness goal.
  • Your personal interactive exercise program available online.
  • Email support from the coaches and medical staff.
  • Membership in a community of likeminded women who get what you are going through and who will support you as you make your way to your fitness goals.
  • Team WILD hat or visor. (your choice)
  • Eligibility to attend the WILD Training Camp in Colorado, June 3 – 6, 2010.

Requirements for enrollment:

  • Have type 1, type 2, or pre diabetes.
  • If a type 3 supporter, must be “sponsored” by a woman on the team who meets the above criteria.
  • Have the physical ability to walk at least one block.
  • Be able to attend at least 90% of all the scheduled team conference calls to be held on Thursday nights starting on May 6, 2010. Calls will be for one hour and the times are as follows: 5:30 PM PST/6:30 PM MST/7:30 PM CST/8:30 PM EST.
  • Have written consent from your medical doctor.
  • Be willing to blog at least 2 times during the season on the WILD 101 public blog and be willing to publicly tell your story so as to inspire other women to get active.
  • While on the team, be willing to document your nutrition, blood sugars, medications and exercise for 3 days in a row at least once during the program (This is not to give individual diabetes management guidance, but to get a collective sense of where the education needs to go.)

Cost to be a WILD 101 Team Member: $89.00. In addition, women will have the option to purchase a team athletic uniform shirt. As an added bonus, type 3 supporters of registered group members can now register for $79.00. (All this for less the $1 a day!)
